All you need to know about Social Stock Exchange

SEBI has approved the launch of the National Stock Exchange of India’s Social Stock Exchange.

SSE will provide a platform for social enterprises to raise funds and finance their social initiatives.

The platform is meant to ensure transparency in fund mobilisation and utilisation.

Social enterprises, Non-Profit Organizations or For-Profit Social Enterprises, can register/list on the SSE segment.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed the creation of an SSE for listing social enterprises and voluntary organisations.

A Social Stock Exchange is a platform that will help social enterprises to raise funds from the public.

It will give investors clarity on a firm's social impact and its intention to work toward social welfare.

Social enterprises will have to first register themselves on the SSE before being able to raise funds by issuing financial instruments such as Zero Coupon Zero Principal.

ZCZP offers transparency regarding donations, with regular audits and reports of social activities to the SSE.
