Reliance Jio added 4.22 million subscribers in June, taking its subscriber base to 413.01 million. In contrast, Airtel only added 0.79 million customers, taking its gross user base to 362.96 million. While Vodafone Idea lost 18,01,186 subscribers, The government-owned BSNL and MTNL lost 13,27,999 and 3,038 wireless customers, respectively.

According to Trai data, Jio had the greatest share of the market with 36 percent, Airtel was second (31.63 percent), and Vodafone Idea was third (22.37 percent) at the end of June.

Private telecom service providers had a 90% market share of wireless subscribers, while BSNL and MTNL had only a 10% market share.

TRAI data showed that India's total wireless subscriber count increased to 18,88,238 at the end of June 2022.

Overall wireless tele density rose marginally from 83.27% in June, the Economic Times reported, quoting TRAI data.

India's total wireline subscribers increased from 25.23 million at the end of May to 25.57 million at the end of June, representing a month-on-month growth rate of 1.32%.

The Visitor Location Register, a key metric reflecting the number of active subscribers on a mobile network, indicated that 98.41% of the users were active for Airtel, 92.79% for Jio, and 85.2% for Vi.

On the other hand, on Wednesday, Bharti Airtel said that it had paid 8,312.4 crore upfront to the Department of Telecommunication towards dues for the spectrum it had acquired in the recently concluded 5G auction. Further, it said that it has cleared 24,333.7 crore of deferred spectrum liabilities.

The DoT also got 7,864.7 crore in upfront payment from Reliance Jio, 1,679.98 crore from Vodafone Idea (Vi), and 18.94 crore from Adani Data Networks. Overall, it received a total of 17,876 crore, according to media reports.
