How to choose a nominee for your mutual funds? 

Investing in mutual funds is a popular way to create wealth and achieve financial security. 

In June 2022, the SEBI mandated mutual fund investors to either choose a nominee or opt out of the process by filling out a declaration form. 

Naming a nominee is essential to facilitate a smooth transition of funds to a beneficiary in the event of death or inability to transact.

Adding or updating nominees can be done through KFintech, CAMS or MFCentral website.

KFintech website requires PAN details to view a list of mutual fund folios and select the folio to add a nominee. 

CAMS website requires PAN details and OTP to declare a nominee or opt out of nomination.

MFCentral requires signing up for an account with PAN and mobile number and selecting the ‘Update Nominee Details’ option. 

It’s important to revisit nominations every once in a while to ensure that the details are up to date.
