With the aim of reducing the usage of physical papers and enabling agency-wide storage of electronic documents, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India launched the digilocker as part of the Digital India Corporation (DIC).
Aadhaar is a free 12-digit, verified identity number given to Indian citizens by UIDAI. It is a distinctive identity document that is used for many processes.
The advantage of digital Aadhaar is that it can be shared electronically with any organization or institution, negating the need for photocopies or printouts, hence reducing the usage of physical papers and enabling agency-wide storage of electronic data. Thus it is important to link you Aadhaar with digilocker.
Steps to link your Aadhaar with Digilocker
Step 1: Visit the website, select "Sign-up," and then input your mobile number, Aadhaar, and other credentials.
Step 2: Sending a one-time password (OTP) and setting your security pin are the two steps required for two-factor authentication of your cell or Aadhaar number. This will create your digiLocker account.
Step 3: Enter your digilocker username and password. You will see a link to input your Aadhaar Number on the dashboard. Select the checkbox after providing the Aadhaar number.
Step 4: Press the "Link Now" button and enter the OTP that was sent to your mobile device.
Step 5: Select the "Verify" button. You may find the Aadhaar card in your part of issued documents once the Aadhaar has been linked.
Please take note that you cannot link your Aadhaar with DigiLocker if your number is not linked with your Aadhaar card. Hence, customers are advised to link their Aadhaar with mobile before proceeding.
