Net inflow into equity mutual funds dipped by 50 percent in the month May 2023 after witnessing a net inflow of ₹3,240 crore as against ₹6,480 crore in April 2023, data released by Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) showed on Friday.
This is the lowest since November 2022 when the equity fund inflow was ₹2,224 crore.
Meanwhile, the inflows via the Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) achieved a fresh record of ₹14,749 crore in May as compared to ₹13,728 crore in April.
At the same time, the total asset under management (AUM) of the mutual fund industry as of May 2023 rose to ₹43.20 lakh crore from ₹41.61 lakh crore in the previous month.
As per AMFI data, the small cap fund saw a rise from ₹2,182 crore to ₹3,283 crore. The midcap funds increased to ₹1,196 crore in May from ₹1,791 crore in the previous month and dividend yield funds saw an inflow of Rs. 289 crore.
The large cap fund and ELSS fund witnessed outflows at ₹1,362 crore and ₹505 crore, respectively.

Debt schemes
Among the debt fund schemes, maximum outflow of ₹18,910 crore was seen in the overnight funds followed by floater funds of ₹2,378 crore.
Conversely, some categories of debt funds saw an inflow in May such as Liquid funds that saw an inflow of ₹45,234 crore and banking & PSU funds that saw an inflow of ₹122 crore.
