Public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) is urging its customers to update their Know Your Customer (KYC) information before December 12, 2022. 

As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, KYC is mandatory for all the customers. However, the bank has already sent two notices to its customers whose accounts have been due for KYC update.

The notification in the newspaper says that “As per RBI guidelines, KYC updation for all customers is mandatory. If your account has become due for KYC updation as of 30.09.2022, in terms of notices/SMS already sent to your registered mobile number, you are requested to contact your base branch to get your KYC updated before 12.12.2022. Non-updating may lead to restriction of operations in your account.”

On November 20 and 21, 2022, the same was posted on the bank's social media handles and published in newspapers.

"Points to be noted. Remember: KYC updation is mandatory as per RBI guidelines. Beware: Bank does not call & request personal information of customers for KYC updation," Punjab National Bank has tweeted.

How to update your KYC details?

Customers of Punjab National Bank are asked to give updated information, such as recent photos, identity and address proofs, mobile numbers (if available), PANs and proofs of income, to their base branch via registered email addresses with the bank, by mail, in person, or in any other manner necessary to ensure the proper operation of their respected bank accounts.

How to check your KYC status?

Customers who want to know whether their KYC has been updated or not can do so by contacting customer care service at 1800-180-2222/1800-103-2222 (toll free) and 0120-249-0000 (tolled number).

For balance enquiry, a customer can give a missed call on 1800-180-2223 (toll free) and 0120-230-3090 (tolled number) from the registered mobile will get you the account balance of your saving/current account.
