Will UPI payments attract transaction fee? Find out

The NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) recently issued a notification for UPI transactions. 

There are two ways to make online payments – through an online wallet and bank-to-bank transactions. 


Earlier, all digital transactions through UPI were free of cost for both customers and merchants.


In order to recover costs, NPCI has decided to charge a fee for transactions.


Bank-to-bank UPI transactions of up to 2,000 are free of cost. 


For wallet payments of up to 2,000, neither the customer nor the merchant have to pay a fee. 

Wallet payments of more than 2,000 will incur a fee ranging from 0.50% to 1.1%. 

Customers should pay attention to save money on transactions they do while shopping or availing of any online services.
