(PTI) Shares of Ashok Leyand on Thursday ended 3 per cent higher after the firm reported a multi-fold jump in its profit after tax for the December quarter.
The stock ended at ₹152.05 apiece, up 2.95 per cent on the BSE. During the day, it climbed 5 per cent to ₹155.10.
On the NSE, it advanced 3 per cent to settle at ₹152.20 per share. During the day, it climbed 4.94 per cent to ₹155.
In volume terms, 9.36 lakh shares were traded on the BSE and over 3.34 crore shares on the NSE during the day.
In a volatile trade, the 30-share BSE benchmark ended 224.16 points or 0.38 per cent higher at 59,932.24.
On Wednesday, Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyand reported a multi-fold jump in its profit after tax at ₹361 crore for the third quarter ended December, aided by robust sales.
The company had posted a profit after tax of ₹6 crore in the October-December quarter of previous fiscal.
Revenues for the quarter stood at ₹9,030 crore over ₹5,535 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement.
Ashok Leyland said its domestic Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle volume rose to 28,221 units, up 69 per cent, over the same period last year.
