TL;DR.

The banking regulator raised the repo rate by 40 bps in May and 50 bps each in June and August. On September 30, the RBI's MPC raised repo rate by 50bps to its current level of 5.9%. Following each hike, FD rates, too, followed the suit. Seven banks raised fixed deposit rates in August alone after the RBI raised repo rates to 5.4 percent on August 5. Here we share details of some NBFCs and banks that offer up to 7-8% on their fixed deposits. 

Bajaj Finance: The NBFC offers up to 7.4 percent for a tenor between 36 months to 60 months. The short tenure deposits, however, fetch lower returns i.e., 6.55 percent for 12-23 months and 7.25% for 24-35 months.

Shriram Transport: It offers up to 8.25 percent for 60-month tenor. For short-tenure deposits, however, the rate of interest is lower i.e., 6.75 percent for 12 months, 7.25 percent for 15 and 24 months, 8 percent for 30 and 36 months, 8.15 percent for 45 and 48 months and 8.25 percent for 60 months.

Mahindra Finance: It offers up to 7.4% for 42 months under Dhanvruddhi cumulative scheme (up to one crore), whereas for the shorter tenure of 30 months, interest is 6.9 percent per annum.

Indian Bank: It offers 5.75 percent for tenure of 3 years to 5 years. The short tenure deposits, however, generate lower returns i.e., 3.5 percent for 91-120 days, 5.45 percent for one year and 5.5 percent for tenor between one to two years.

Canara Bank: It offers up to 7 percent for 666 days and 5-year deposits. The short tenure deposits, however, generate lower returns such as 6.5% for one year to less than two years, and between two to 5 years, and 6 percent for 270 days to less than one year. 

Kotak Mahindra Bank: It offers up to 6.2 percent for a tenure between 23 months to less than 3 years. For shorter tenure and very long tenure, the interest rate falls. For instance, for tenure above three years and between 390 days to less than 23 months, the interest is 6.1 percent. For 271 days to 363 days, the interest is 5.25 percent.
