Stock lending and borrowing is a mechanism that allows traders to borrow securities from other traders for a short period of time to sell them in the market. 

This practice is commonly known as securities lending or stock lending.


Stock lending and borrowing mechanism is a process by which securities are borrowed or lent in the market to facilitate short selling or hedging positions. 

It is a process where investors who hold securities, such as stocks or bonds, can lend them to other investors who wish to borrow them for a short period of time. 

This mechanism is primarily used by institutional investors, such as mutual funds, hedge funds, and insurance companies.

The stock lending and borrowing mechanism involves three parties: the borrower, the lender, and the exchange. 

These are the benefits of this mechanism: First: It helps to increase market efficiency by providing liquidity and depth to the market.

Second. It enables investors to take advantage of short-term market movements and helps in price discovery.
