    Religare Broking on Gold

“Investors can accumulate gold in a staggered manner near the Rs.49500-49000/10gms range for the upside potential of Rs.53100/10gms initially & next at Rs.53700/10gms levels. On the flip side, a decisive break of 100 EMA, which currently lies around Rs.48700/10gms mark could derail the positive sentiment and push the gold to Rs.47000/10gms level.”

    Market Outlook: Samvat 2079

"Capital goods, pharma and cement, will outperform, while public and private banks, NBFCs and the auto sector may wind up laggards. We also expect mid and small caps to outperform large caps. If you look at the data from the last Samvat to the current one, there is hardly any difference between the performance of large, mid and small caps. On the contrary, small caps have performed better than large caps. Therefore, the performance of the Indian equity market going forward would be driven more by small and mid-caps. We are bullish about mid and small caps, given the yearly rise of retail investors. By the next Samvat, we expect the market to perform exceptionally well,"said Sunil Damania, Chief Investment Officer, MarketsMojo.

Quote on Muhurat trading by V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services

"Even though Samvat 2078 ended with marginal negative returns the overarching feature of the year gone by was India’s distinct outperformance. While the MSCI World Index and MSCI Emerging Market Index fell by 23 % and 33% respectively, Nifty hugely outperformed with a minor cut of only 3 %. This outperformance in a year of a war in Europe and rising inflation and interest rates in the developed world reflects Rising India’s resilience. From the market perspective, two factors stand out: One, India’s economic fundamentals are relatively strong. Two, DIIs and retail investors have become a force to reckon with overwhelming the FII selling. This trend can be expected to continue.

Muhurat trading will be lighted up by fireworks from the bulls who are set to charge with the support from the mother market US which was strong last Friday. Financials are again likely to lead the rally since credit growth in the economy is robust and continues to gain momentum. However, investors should be cautious since there are major challenges ahead, particularly rising interest rates and the unknown trajectory of the Ukraine war."

Nifty has fallen only in 3 of the last 15 muhurat trading sessions

The indices have generally performed decently on this occasion even though the trading volumes are pretty low. In the last 15 years, since 2008, 12 out of the 15 muhurat trading sessions have ended in the green.

Last year, Diwali was observed on November 4 and the indices rose around half a percent higher. The Indian markets have followed a similar trend in the past. In 2020, the indices rose between 0.5 percent in Muhurat trading followed by a 0.37 percent rise in 2019 in Muhurat trading and a 0.7 percent rise in 2018. However, they saw minor losses in muhurat trading in 2017, 2016, and 2012.

The best Muhurat trading performance till date was witnessed in 2008 during the peak of the global financial crisis in 2008. In that Muhurat Trading session on October 28, 2008, the indices jumped nearly 6 percent, the highest ever in a Muhurat session.
