As NPS rules change from April 1, subscribers need to be mindful of these provisions for withdrawal

The pension fund regulator and insurance regulator have simplified the process of buying annuity from NPS.

Subscribers must upload documents to enable parallel processing of exit and buying annuity.

The documents to be uploaded are: NPS exit/withdrawal form, proof of identity and address, bank account proof, and copy of PRAN card.

Subscriber initiates online exit request in CRA system, and details like address, bank details, and nominee details auto-populated from NPS account.

Subscriber will select fund allocation percentage for lump sum/annuity, annuity details, etc.

Bank account registered in CRA is verified through online Bank Account Verification.

Subscriber must upload KYC documents (identity and address proof), copy of PRAN card/e-PRAN, and Bank Proof.

This process will be effective from April 1, 2023.
