Budget 2023: Outlay of 19,700 crore to reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports

National Green hydrogen mission with an outlay 19,700 crore will facilitate transition of the economy to low carbon intensity, reduced dependence on fossil fuel imports and make the country leadership in this sunrise sector, said Nirmala Sitharaman during her Budget 2023 speech. 

The Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman emphasised seven priorities of Union Budget 2023 during her speech. These seven priorities complement each other and were referred to as Saptarishi during the Amrit Kaal

They are inclusive development, reaching the last mile, infrastructure, unleashing the potential, green growth, youth power and financial sector.

Sitharaman also spoke about giving emphasis on economic empowerment of women, farmers and craftsmen, among other announcements.

"Indian economy has increased in size from being tenth to 5th largest in the world in the last 9 years, we have made significant progress in many SDGs, economy has become lot more formalized, efficient implementation of schemes has brought about inclusive development," she said. 

The government will also set up National digital library, announced the Union Finance Minister. Physical libraries will be set up at the panchayat and block levels.
