HDFC MNC Fund: Should you invest in it? 


HDFC Mutual Fund rolled out an NFO for HDFC MNC fund recently.



There are already some schemes in this category such as SBI Magnum Global Fund, UTI MNC Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life MNC Fund & ICICI Prudential MNC Fund.


Some wealth advisors believe that it is not recommended to invest in an MNC fund because they are risk-prone.


For any investor who has invested in a large cap fund, there is no merit in getting an additional exposure to MNC stocks, says one expert.


Another expert says it is a good sector to watch out for as investors get interested in it during deep market correction but these funds have not delivered decent returns in the past 2-3 years.


Sridharan Sundaram, investment advisor, says that the current timing is not right. Corporations in the West stare at inflation and growth-related issues, he says.

One should not allocate more than 5 percent of their overall portfolio in MNC funds, says Sridharan. 

Thematic funds work only when their story works out. One has to see how credible their hypothesis is, says Ravi Saraogi, CFA from Samasthiti Advisors.
