This is how your EPF contributions are invested

EPFO provides retirement funds to many of us and currently offers 8.1% interest on investments.

The money is invested in debt and equity instruments, with 85% in debt and the remaining 15% in ETFs.

EPFO is now proposing to increase the equity investment limit from 15% to 25%. 

The investment could be made through portfolio managers and ETF manufacturers appointed by CBT, EPFO.

There is no information on whether the EPFO would invest in the markets directly or through mutual funds. 

The EPF’s equity investments could be made through portfolio managers and ETF manufacturers. 

If approved, the EPF’s increased investments in equities could be a big boost to the stock market.

 The additional money from EPF would add to DII investments, offsetting the impact of FII investments during a sudden market crash.

EPFO is contemplating raising the equity investment limit to 25% in order to bridge the shortfall of lower interest rates.
