The interest rate of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has been increased from 7.60% to 8%.

The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account can be opened in the name of the girl child anytime before she turns 10 years old.


Parents can contribute to the account up to the girl child's 14th birthday.

50% of the accumulated corpus can be withdrawn when the girl child turns 18.

Assuming a conservative interest rate of 7.6%, parents can accumulate a maturity value of rupees 63,27,847.

Income tax benefits of up to 1.50 lakhs can be claimed on investments in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.

Interest earned and maturity amount are tax-free.

The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is an Exempt-Exempt-Exempt (EEE) investment vehicle.


This scheme helps to accumulate a decent corpus to pay for the girl's higher education and other goals.
