The government has made linking of PAN with the Aadhaar number mandatory for various services including filing income tax returns. The deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar is March 31, 2023, post which, PANs of those who fail to do so will not be valid.

However, many are unsure as to whether or not their PAN and Aadhaar are linked. Here's how to check it online:

1. Click on the following link

2. Enter your PAN Card number and birth details.

3. After you have entered the “Captcha”, click on the “Submit” button.

4. This will take you to another screen wherein you may check the status of the linking after entering both your PAN Card and Aadhaar number.

If you are unable to check the status online, you may also resort to the Income Tax Department’s SMS facility. Simply, send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format.

UIDPAN < 12-digit Aadhaar Number> < 10-digit Permanent Account Number>

You will soon get an SMS informing of the Aadhaar-PAN linking status. If both have been linked, you will receive the following message

“Your Aadhaar Number …… is already associated with PAN Card ….. in the Income Tax Department database. Thank you for using our services.”
